With their outstanding appearance on CBS’s Homeward Bound: A GRAMMY® Salute to the Songs of Paul Simon (set for release soon), TAKE 6 thrilled the TV audience with their stunning rendition of Homeless! A few months later, the phenomenal group did it again – this time with friend Michael McDonald and Don’t Worry Baby on A Grammy Salute to The Beach Boys! 2024 will bring another recording and brand-new show by this legendary group where the art of the song will meet the art of harmony as the group takes on songs first associated with jazz that transcended the genre – Rhapsody In Blue, Come Sunday, and more! With 10 GRAMMY® Awards, 10 Dove Awards, a Soul Train Award, and as Members of the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, this musical phenomenon has six virtuosic voices united in crystal clear harmony, against a backdrop of syncopated rhythms, innovative arrangements, and funky grooves that bubble into an intoxicating brew of gospel, jazz, R&B, and pop. With praise from such luminaries as Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Brian Wilson, Ella Fitzgerald and Whitney Houston, the multi-platinum selling sextet has toured across the globe, collaborated across genres, and is recognized as the pre-eminent a cappella group in the world. With their most recent recording ICONIC, TAKE 6 emerged on seven (7) Billboard Charts simultaneously and have seen their music played all over the country in various formats! This April 2022, the legendary group took to Capitol Hill for GRAMMY® On The Hill to advocate for musicians rights and work. From televised vocal to the mania over singing driven comedy-dramas like Glee and Smash, TAKE 6 is the original torchbearer. Major public and corporate events remind everyone of this as TAKE 6 has triumphed among a gathering of stars including Celine Dion, Lionel Richie, Justin Timberlake, Stevie Nicks, and Ne-Yo at Walmart’s 50th Anniversary celebration; a SOLD-OUT audience and Standing Ovation at the Songwriters Hall of Fame Awards where TAKE 6 captivated the audience with their rendition, performing with and honoring legendary singer-songwriter Ben E. King, on his classic “Stand By Me.” As a group that knows no musical bounds, they then brought the house down with their tribute to folk icon Woody Guthrie with “This Land Is Your Land.” TAKE 6 has come a long way from their days at Huntsville, Alabama’s Oakwood College where McKnight formed the group as The Gentleman’s Estate Quartet in 1980. The group eventually became known as Alliance but when they signed to Reprise Records in 1987 they found that there was another group with the same name, so they became TAKE 6. Their self-titled debut CD won over jazz and pop critics and they’ve never slowed down. What makes the music and the group last this long? The answers are direct and simple: faith, friendship, respect, and love of music. From their exceptional Christmas Show, to their innovative Symphony show, these qualities are at the heart of the Take 6 phenomenon.

ANGELO VALORI

Compositore, direttore d’orchestra, produttore, insegnante apprezzato a livello internazionale, è direttore stabile di Medit Orchestra e Medit Voices, con cui ha tenuto concerti nei principali Festival e Teatri italiani con Dee Dee Bridgewater, Manhattan Transfer, Malika Ayane, Avion Travel, Fabrizio Bosso, Karima, Serena Brancale, Ada Montellanico, Maria Pia De Vito, Rita Marcotulli, Morgan, Sergio Cammariere. Ha composto le musiche per lo spettacolo di danza “Cleopatra” rappresentato nell’ambito della stagione 2008 del Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. Le sue composizioni sono registrate su diversi CD, tra i quali Notturno Mediterraneo (Egea Records, con Gil Goldstein e Gabriele Mirabassi), Dove volano gli angeli (Wide Sound, con Bob Mintzer e Fabrizio Bosso) e Il Caffè Dalle Americhe (Wide Sound, con Javier Girotto). Ha eseguito con John Patitucci, in prima mondiale, le sue “Variazioni” per Basso Elettrico ed Orchestra d’archi. Nel dicembre 2022 ha diretto il Concerto di Natale della Camera dei Deputati, con ospite Mogol, trasmesso da RAI 1. Nell’aprile 2023 ha diretto l’orchestra nella trasmissione televisiva StraMorgan, andata in onda su RAI 2 dove ha avuto modo di collaborare con Morgan, Pino Strabioli, Vinicio Capossela, Giovanni Caccamo, Chiara Galiazzo, Simone Avincola, Dolcenera e Tony Hadley.

Ha studiato pianoforte con Marco Fumo e si è diplomato in composizione e direzione d’orchestra presso i Conservatori di Pescara e L’Aquila, oltre che presso l’Accademia Musicale Pescarese, dove ha seguito i corsi di Mario Gusella, Michele Marvulli e Donato Renzetti. Ha conseguito il Master in Arranging and Orchestration presso Berklee Music di Boston. Titolare di cattedra di Teoria della Musica al Conservatorio statale di musica di Pescara, dove ha diretto per 10 anni le Scuole di Pop/Rock e Jazz e dove ha iniziato per primo, sia a livello sperimentale che ordinamentale, il Corso di Composizione Pop/Rock. Tiene Masterclass, Workshop e Concerti presso prestigiosi Conservatori, College e Università Europee e Americane: KunstUniversitat di Graz, PopAkademie di Mannheim, Royal College di Stoccolma, Conservatorium van Amsterdam, HUK Utrecht, Metropolia University Helsinki, Berklee College di Boston, Columbia College di Chicago, dove è stato invitato anche come “Guest Artist in Residence”. E’ responsabile dei Progetti speciali del CET, Scuola di Mogol, dove insegna Forme e linguaggi della Canzone.

MEDIT ORCHESTRA

Nasce da un progetto di Produzione e Ricerca incentrato sui nuovi linguaggi e tecnologie uniti agli strumenti della tradizione classica, che rielabora e propone un repertorio basato sulla Canzone come alta forma di cultura contemporanea. Nonostante la recente formazione Medit Orchestra ha tenuto concerti in importanti Teatri e Festival italiani, collaborando con artisti quali Dee Dee Bridgewater, Morgan, Sergio Cammariere, Karima, Serena Brancale, Ada Montellanico, Fabrizio Bosso, Luca Aquino, Giovanni Guidi, Maria Pia De Vito, Manhattan Transfer. Raccoglie l’eredità dell’Orchestra d’Archi Suono & Oltre, con la quale ha realizzato la prima esecuzione mondiale di “Variazioni per Basso elettrico e orchestra” di John Patitucci, eseguito in prima mondiale con l’autore. Nell’aprile 2022 partecipa alla trasmissione televisiva StraMorgan, andata in onda su RAI 2 dove ha avuto modo di collaborare con Morgan, Vinicio Capossela, Giovanni Caccamo, Chiara Galiazzo, Simone Avincola, Dolcenera e Tony Hadley.
